Daniel González León

Daniel González León studied History at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and holds a M. Phil. in Egyptology from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB). He is currently a Ph. D. Candidate in Egyptology at UAB and, in his dissertation, under the supervision of Dr. Josep Cervelló Autuori, he studies several non-royal titles, such as imȝ-ʿ, ḫw-ʿ, ḥqȝ Bȝt and ḥȝty-ʿ (n Mnʿt-Ḫw=f-wỉ), in the Old and Middle Kingdom. In order to help him to complete his thesis, he was awarded a fellowship from the Department of Education of the Basque Government (2018-2022), and has enjoyed research stays at the British Museum, Harvard University, and the Czech Institute of Egyptology (Charles University).
Daniel is Adjunct Lecturer at UAB and teaches Egyptian Texts I and Egyptian Epigraphy and Paleography in the M. Phil. of Egyptology. He is also assistant editor of the Egyptological monograph series Aula Aegyptiaca-Studia and member of several Research projects, such as Estudios de epigrafía funeraria egipcia de la región menfita (MICINN, ref. PID2019- 105878GB-I00).
During the academic year 2022-2023, Daniel will work in The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York as an Andrew W. Mellon Fellow to conduct the paleographic study of the Coptos decrees, a royal legal corpus of hieroglyphic texts from ancient Egypt.
